Heel lifts are an inexpensive intervention, Heel lifts are used to fine tune and improve orthotic prescription outcomes in particular patients with decreased ankle dorsiflexion. Often this is determined by doing a Lunge Test. Patients with limited ankle dorsiflexion may find the orthotic pushes up into their arch causing discomfort. Using a heel lift increases ankle dorsiflexion and orthotic comfort. Heel lifts are also used to treat patients with limb length differences.
